The Doernbecher Air Jordan 7 will be this year’s Jordans 2017 model that will take part of the Nike Doernbecher Freestyle 2017 Collection. This year’s Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher will be designed by Damien Phillips. Designing the Air Jordan 7 was a serious thrill for Damien, who is a huge Chicago Bulls fan. “When I found out, I was so excited, I was jumping all over the place,” he laughed. Designed by Damien Phillips, a patient at the children’s hospital in Portland, the shoe takes inspiration from his love of music and guitars, as well as volcanoes for the unique fiery red and textured black upper. Special details include guitar pick lace dubraes and custom heel logos with Damien’s initials, metallic gold accents, and clear outsoles with a cartoon illustration of him rocking visible below.
His design features Red and Black to represent the Bulls’ team colors, as well as rock “n” roll accents like a guitar pick on the laces and a heel tab that resembles a guitar neck. Flip the shoe over, and you’ll see Damien playing a power solo on the outsole. Damien says he hopes that Michael Jordan will want to rock his shoe; he also hopes it will encourage other kids with hemophilia to stay positive. Battling his way through a hemophilia diagnosis, Phillips has shown courage at hemophilia camp, where he earned the Big Stick Award after learning to administer his own infusions. An avid fan of the Chicago Bulls, Phillips was thrilled to learn about his opportunity to design the Jordans 2017, splashing the shoe with the Bulls’ famous black and red color scheme. Rock ‘n Roll accents like a guitar pick on the laces and a heel tab resembling a guitar neck represent his passion for music and ability to jam on a guitar. The outsole even features an animated graphic of the youngster playing a power solo.
Damien Phillips has designed the Air Jordan 7 Doernbecher which is inspired by guitars and his love for the Chicago Bulls. Each year, Nike connects with Doernbecher Children’s Hospital to release a collection of footwear and apparel with proceeds going to the hospital. As well, Damien Phillips will design the New Air Jordan 7 (VII).
Using a Red and Black theme, which is for the Bulls, you will also see references to guitars like a guitar pick on the laces and a guitar neck on the heel. On the translucent sole, you will see Damien playing a power solo. Finishing the look is minor Metallic Gold accents, wood-like finish on the base and a unique graphic on the overlay.
